Reviews: Fiskars 9234 62-Inch Pruning Stik
This is my second having destroyed the first through overzealous use cutting through wider than recommended branches. I'm the first to admit I gave my first pruner a really hard work out. I used it to clear blackberry on a steep hillside. Without it would have been one of those jobs you walk away from. With it I tackled the canes from the base and literally whacked the cut canes out of my way.
Yes, tools do last a whole lot longer if you're nice to them. However it wasn't the blackberry that killed it. It was metal fatigue on the cutting head. That part is easily enough replaced but before I knew that I recycled it.
Overall it's safer to use this tool to avoid scratches, gouges and scrapes than to use shorter handled loppers. It has great use of leverage so you really can cut through tough branches with relative ease.
I strongly recommend this pruner and the larger Fiskars. I have both and have used them to very good effect on my 5 acres.
