Exactly what I was looking for!

Reviews: Fiskars 9234 62-Inch Pruning Stik

We have six large Purple Hopseed bushes in our backyard lining our back fence. They were approximately 12 to 15 feet before trimming. I have some Fiskars 9154 Bypass Loppers that work wonderful for trimming up our smaller bushes in the front yard, but I needed something with a bit more reach for the Hopseed bushes. I wanted to keep there shape, without having to just cut them off flat at the top. The Loppers just weren't long enough for me to be as selective on the branches I cut off. Since I have had such good luck with all of my other Fiskars products, I decided to give this Pruning Stik a shot. I am so glad I did!

It is just over 5ft long and is fairly light. (I was actually surprised by this, because I was expecting it to weigh more than it did.) The lighter weight helps make it possible for you to reach the stick straight out and not use all of your effort just to hold it up. Although it is light weight, just like my other Fiskars Loppers, this seems to be built really durable!

The head rotates so you can angle the cutter to reach pretty much any branch you need it to. I found I didn't really have to use this feature much, but the couple of times I did, it made things so much easier. It says it will cut branches up to 1 1/4 inches thick, but the largest branches I had to cut were about 1/2 inch thick. The 1/2 inch branches seemed to be no match for the pruner. It cut through them without much effort.

One of my favorite pieces to this pruner is the orange handle that you pull/slide down the shaft of the pruner to activate the cutter. Other ones I saw at Home Depot and Lowes only had a rope to pull which looked like it would wear on your hands after a while. The handle system is awesome! Very smooth and responsive. Because it is more in the middle of the stick, Fiskars also put a ball/knob an the very end of the stick that you can pull to also activate the cutter. I thought this was a really nice feature for those times that you wanted to reach the stick out as far as possible, but put the handle at too far of a distance to reach. It helps give you a longer extension with the stick if needed.

All-in-all, great product that I already recommended to my dad. So glad I bought it!
